WHAT’S WRONG WITH ALCOHOL?

There’s a big debate in our society: Is it wrong to drink alcohol? Is it sin?

 

I’ve heard many discussions about to this topic. I know some people that say: “As far as you don’t get drunk, it is not sin” and some others who say: “That’s from the devil”.

Let’s start with this question: DOES IT DEFILE YOU TO DRINK A BEER OR ANY OTHER KIND OF ALCOHOLIC DRINK?

I want to explain this point. First, I want you to read very carefully the following verses:

It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man. Matthew 15:11

Do not look on the wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly; at the last it bites like a serpent and stings like a viper. Your eyes will see strange things and your mind will utter perverse things. They struck me, but I did not become ill; they beat me, but I did not know it. When shall I awake? I will seek another drink.” Proverbs 23:31-35

What do these verses tell us? Will a drink defile you? It won’t but the words that will come out of your mouth after drinking will. The proverbs says: “…AND YOUR MIND WILL UTTER PERVERSE THINGS”

Alcohol uninhibits you and it makes you say and do this that, normally, you wouldn’t do. WARNING: ALCOHOL WILL MAKE YOU LOSE THE FEAR OF GOD. Playing with alcohol is the same as playing with a snake and expect it never bites you. That’s why the proverb says: “at the last it bites like a serpent and stings like a viper”.

The worst thing with alcohol is that it binds you and makes you say: “WHEN SHALL I AWAKE? I WILL SEEK ANOTHER DRINK”.

Did you feel lonely and you looked for refuge in alcohol? Did you feel “not cool” among your friends and that’s why your started to drink? God has A LOT MORE to offer. If you feel lonely, He offers you to be with you forever. If you feel “not popular”, He can make that your insignificant beginning turns into a great end. What do you prefer: The momentary company of alcohol or a God that will always be holding you up?

Everything that is not eternal is eternally useless. What’s your choice?
